University of Florida/IFAS will host a Watermelon Field Day on Monday, May 3 at Watson’s Farm in Levy County.
The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a dinner to follow.
Mark Warren, UF/IFAS Extension agent in Levy County, will discuss nutritional management as part of an BMP program.
Bob Hochmuth, the UF Regional Specialized Extension agent/vegetables and the Assistant Center Director at the North Florida REC in Suwanee Valley, will discuss a controlled release fertilizer project. He’ll also provide a food safety update.
Directions: From US 129 south of Trenton, take CR 346A west 2.0 miles to CR 321 south. Then take CR 321 south 1.45 miles to limerock drive on the east side of the road (look for UF Program Today sign). Follow the limerock drive back to the field.
