UF/IFAS to Host Upcoming Citrus Events

LAKE ALFRED, Fla. — University of Florida (UF) Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) faculty are hosting a number of events for citrus growers in the upcoming weeks. All events are free but require preregistration.

Oct. 26                 Citrus Nutrition Day   9 a.m. to Noon

Join us for this in-person event and hear about citrus nutrition research updates and strategies for applying nutrients in Florida citrus. Lunch provided.

Oct. 26                 Citrus Black Spot Training Workshop   9 a.m. to Noon

                                    Turner Agri-Civic Center

                                    Arcadia, Fla.  34266

Citrus Black Spot is a fungal disease that has been found in five southwest Florida counties. This disease has the potential to continue moving north through the citrus growing regions. Participants will learn how to detect citrus black spot in the grove, be provided with management options and learn about regulatory procedures. Lunch provided.

Learn more about techniques that you can use in your groves now to increase yield, fight fruit drop, manage pests, improve nutrition and more. Over 20 interactive, hand-on exhibits. Visit research sites in the afternoon. Lunch provided.

Nov. 17             Zoom seminar on Winter Weather and Citrus 10 a.m.

Presentations on winter weather watch, ag weather forecasts, freeze protection, Florida Automated Weather Network (FAWN) and cold protection and irrigation tools. Presented by Chris Oswalt and Rick Lusher and coordinated by Mongi Zekri. Free.
