The voice for Georgia’s fruit and vegetable growers is celebrating 25 years this year.
The Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association (GFVGA) will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special event on Aug. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus Conference Center. Past and current leaders of the association will be recognized at the event, which will include a reception, dinner, program and dance.
“To me, when you’ve got a committed group of growers that their interest is preserving the industry and not just preserving it but making it better; you’ve got a committed group of growers and you’ve got a committed staff that they make our problems their problems, I think that’s a win-win,” said Drew Echols, GFVGA President. “I think we’re going to be having this same conversation 25 years from now. We’re going to be talking about a 50-year program, a 50-year-old association because of that. You’ve got committed growers and committed staff that just works so well together. To me, that’s the biggest deal.”
The GFVGA has been the voice of growers over the past 25 years, whether it is by testifying at congressional hearings, maintaining important relationships or soliciting funds from government grants and corporate sponsorships.
As part of this year’s celebration, GFVGA is establishing an advocacy fund with a target funding goal of $100,000 to ensure the association continues to have the financial support to represent the industry in Atlanta and Washington.
