Vegetable and specialty crop producers in Florida, Georgia and Alabama have until Oct. 12 to sign up for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP) 2. The deadline allows for eligible farmers to either apply or modify their existing CFAP 2 applications.

The program provides financial assistance to agricultural producers who continue to face market disruptions and related costs due to COVID-19.

More than 230 fruit, vegetable, horticulture and tree nut commodities are eligible for CFAP 2.

CFAP 2 payments will be made for four categories of commodities – Price Trigger Commodities, Flat-Rate Crops, Sales Commodities, and Livestock and Poultry Produced Under Contract. Specialty crops are classified under the Sales Commodities.

Visit farmers.gov/cfap2/specialty for a full list of eligible commodities and more information on CFAP 2 eligibility and payment details related to these commodities.

Full details and application forms can be found at Farmers.gov/CFAP. Other eligibility forms, such as those related to adjusted gross income and payment information, can be downloaded from Farmers.gov/CFAP/Apply.

Customers can call 877-508-8364 to speak directly with a USDA employee ready to offer assistance on the CFAP 2 application process. This is a recommended first step before a producer engages with the team at the Farm Service Agency county office.
