Beginning in January 2022, Vegetable and Specialty Crops News (VSCNews) will have a new name. The monthly trade magazine that debuted from AgNet Media four years ago will become Specialty Crop Industry. Not only is the new name more concise, but it also more accurately reflects the scope of the magazine’s content and audience.

Although AgNet Media is dropping the word “Vegetable” from the title, the magazine’s content will continue to cover vegetable crops. After all, vegetables are included in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s definition of specialty crops, and vegetables are an integral part of the industry. The magazine will still focus on the Southeast growing region, primarily Florida, Georgia and Alabama. Core article topics will stay the same: fruit, vegetables and alternative crops.

Also, the word “News” is no longer in the name of the magazine. That is because the main purpose of the magazine has evolved into providing research and production information for specialty crop growers.

For readers seeking current news, AgNet Media offers a website with daily specialty crop news stories, as well as a weekly e-newsletter to bring the top news stories of the week to your inbox. In January, VSCNews.com will transition to SpecialtyCropIndustry.com. The VSCNews This Week e-newsletter will become Specialty Crop Industry This Week.

In tandem with these name changes, AgNet Media is also consolidating its jointly held Citrus Expo and Vegetable and Specialty Crop Expo. These events will now simply be known as the Citrus and Specialty Crop Expo. The Expo takes place annually in August at the Lee Civic Center in North Fort Myers, Florida. One of the largest agriculture events in Florida, the Expo includes two days of educational seminars and a trade show for growers. Mark your calendar for Aug. 17–18, 2022.

These new names will help reintroduce the AgNet Media brand and bring all of the company’s properties under the same umbrella. What’s more, the Specialty Crop Industry name parallels nicely with AgNet Media’s other magazine, Citrus Industry. If you grow citrus, visit CitrusIndustry.net to subscribe to the magazine and get daily web news.

Additional AgNet Media properties include the Southeast AgNet Radio Network in Florida, Georgia and Alabama and the AgNet West Radio Network in California. Both networks include an array of affiliate radio stations that air agricultural news programs.

AgNet Media also operates the annual Florida Ag Expo, which was held Nov. 18 at the Gulf Coast Research and Education Center in Wimauma.
