The Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association (FFVA) is preparing for its annual convention in September. Lisa Lochridge, FFVA director of public affairs, says she is looking forward to an exciting event.

The convention will feature two keynote speakers. During the opening session, Florida Representative Jake Raburn will speak. He will give his take on what is on the horizon for the Florida agriculture industry regarding legislation. Then, best-selling author Andy Andrews will be the keynote speaker at the cracker breakfast. Andrews made his way on to the New York Times Best Sellers list through his inspirational books on leadership. He will be sharing his leadership insights during his presentation.

“We have a strong team of speakers lined up,” Lochridge says.

The convention will also include three issue forums that will focus on major topics in the Florida agriculture industry. One forum will focus on trade and potential renegotiations of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Another issue forum will be geared toward workforce issues. “(Workforce issues) are always a number-one concern for our members,” Lochridge says. She adds that experts from Washington, D.C., will be attending these forums to give insight on these issues at a national level.

The final issue forum will focus on building consumer trust within the agriculture industry. The forum will discuss how to really connect with customers in the marketplace. “Things are different in the marketplace now, and we really feel like this will be good information for our members,” Lochridge says.

Lochridge believes through the speakers and the forums, the convention will provide attendees with strong and relevant content, and it will give them the chance to make connections with each other. “We want to provide them an opportunity to network with their colleagues, meet our wonderful sponsors and have a little fun in the process,” Lochridge concludes.

The FFVA convention will take place September 25–27 at the Ritz-Carlton in Amelia Island, Florida. Registration for the convention is now open. To register, click here.
