Ag Angels is a 100-percent non-profit organization dedicated to providing children in Highlands and Hardee counties with a Christmas.
Ag Angels got its start 10 years ago when its founder and chairman,Scott Kirouac, was visiting a school and learned that there would be some students who would have to forgo Christmas due to a lack of funds in their households. Kirouac knew that he wanted to give those children Christmas because “every child deserves a Christmas.” So, he started Ag Angels with just $500 and helped give the children new clothes, toys and other items they needed.
Since then, Ag Angels has raised over $152,000 and has blossomed into a popular non-profit “of choice” because the donors are guaranteed their donations will be used fully to provide children with gifts. Kirouac has a strict rule of no gift cards or cash, so the money can be used exclusively on gifts for the children.
Teachers and school office workers help select the children in need, and the donations are distributed to the schools from the Ag Angels organization.
Florida Farm Bureau of Highlands County and the Florida Nursery, Growers and Landscape Association’s Highlands Heartland Chapter have endorsed the organization to ensure it can continue to give children Christmas gifts for years to come. Kirouac also plans on paying for the administrative fees of the organization for as long as he possibly can because he sees it as his way of contributing to the best of his ability.
